Opportunity:

  • We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Ophthalmology Consultant to join our team at The Royal Eye Infirmary. As a key member of our department, you will play a vital role in maintaining Ophthalmology services and providing routine and emergency care to our patients.
  • The ideal candidate will have a specialist interest in Glaucoma and be able to work collaboratively with our existing Consultants to deliver high-quality patient care and develop new patient pathways.
  • Our department is well-equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, including 3 modern operating theatres and a range of diagnostic equipment. We are committed to providing a supportive and inclusive environment for our staff and patients.
  • The successful candidate will be contracted to 10 Programmed Activities (PAs) and will have access to a comprehensive relocation package, generous study leave, and a range of other benefits.

About the Role:

  • As a Locum Consultant in Ophthalmology, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the development of our department.
  • You will work closely with our existing Consultants and other healthcare professionals to deliver a comprehensive range of ophthalmic services.
  • The role will involve working in a fast-paced environment and making decisions quickly and effectively.
  • You will be expected to maintain accurate records and communicate effectively with patients, colleagues, and other healthcare professionals.

Requirements:

  • To be eligible for this role, you must be on the GMC Specialist Register or eligible for admission within six months of interview.
  • You will need to have a strong background in Ophthalmology, with a specialist interest in Glaucoma.
  • Experience of teaching and supervision of projects would be desirable, but not essential.
