About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Ophthalmologist to join our dynamic team at University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust. As a Consultant Ophthalmologist, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the development of our ophthalmology services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide specialist ophthalmic care to patients, including diagnosis, treatment, and management of glaucoma and other eye conditions.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of ophthalmology services, including the development of new treatments and procedures.
  • Supervise and mentor junior doctors and other healthcare professionals to ensure high-quality patient care.
  • Participate in research and clinical audit to improve patient outcomes and contribute to the advancement of ophthalmology.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with other healthcare professionals and stakeholders to ensure effective communication and collaboration.

Requirements

  • Full GMC registration and eligibility for admission to the Specialist Register.
  • Demonstrated expertise in ophthalmology, including glaucoma and other eye conditions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, colleagues, and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to lead and manage a team, with a strong focus on patient care and safety.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying up-to-date with the latest advances in ophthalmology.
