Opportunity Overview:

Head Medical is seeking a highly skilled Consultant Ophthalmologist with a specialist interest in Glaucoma to join our team at The Royal Eye Infirmary. As a key member of our department, you will play a vital role in maintaining ophthalmology services and providing routine and emergency care to patients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work collaboratively with other Consultants to maintain ophthalmology services and provide routine and emergency care to patients.
  • Contribute to the growth and development of the Glaucoma service, delivering specialist care and developing patient pathways.
  • Manage a caseload of patients with a range of ophthalmic conditions, including Glaucoma.
  • Participate in the on-call rota, providing out-of-hours cover for the department.

Essential Criteria:

  • To be on the appropriate GMC Specialist Register or eligible for admission within six months of interview.
  • FRCOphth, MRCOphth or equivalent qualification.
  • Demonstrate evidence of a sound ophthalmic training equivalent to that recognised in the UK.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Evidence of experience and ability in teaching.
  • Supervision of projects.
  • Sub-specialty interest within Glaucoma ophthalmology to complement existing Consultants.
