Research Assistant/Associate in Computational Fluid Dynamics and Computational Combustion Specialist

The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Research Assistant/Associate to join our team in the field of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and Computational Combustion. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a funded research project focused on swirl stabilised hydrogen premixed flames.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and deliver advanced Direct Numerical Simulation (DNS) databases for hydrogen-air premixed swirl flames under representative combustor operating conditions.
- Conduct a comprehensive analysis of the behaviour of the Processing Vortex Core (PVC) under non-reacting and reacting flow conditions.
- Identify combustor operating conditions for which hydrodynamic/thermoacoustic instabilities exist.
- Perform an in-depth analysis on extinction strain rates and heat release rate for lean hydrogen premixed flames.
Requirements
- PhD in a relevant field, such as CFD, turbulent flows, or turbulent reacting flows.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to network and influence.
- Experience in designing and delivering research outcomes at local and international conferences.
- Ability to engage with PhD students and the wider research community within the group.
