Position Overview

The Perinatal Care Assistant plays a crucial role in delivering exceptional care to mothers and their newborns. This position involves working collaboratively within the Midwifery team at Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board, ensuring adherence to established training protocols. Under the guidance of a registered Midwife, the Perinatal Care Assistant will engage with families in a supportive group environment during the postnatal phase.

Key Responsibilities

The responsibilities associated with this role include:

  • Providing care and support to mothers and infants.
  • Conducting routine assessments of mothers and babies, including vital signs.
  • Maintaining accurate records and managing administrative tasks.
  • Delivering educational support to parents, both individually and in group settings.
  • Collecting blood samples for laboratory analysis.
  • Preparing necessary equipment for use.
  • Encouraging and facilitating breastfeeding.
  • Reporting any concerns to the Midwifery team.
  • Ensuring cleanliness and organization within the clinical environment.
