The Perinatal Care Assistant plays a crucial role in delivering exceptional care to mothers and their newborns. This position is integral to the Midwifery team at Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board, requiring a dedicated individual who is committed to following established training protocols. The Care Assistant will operate under the guidance of a registered Midwife, ensuring that care standards are met while supporting families during the postnatal phase.
Key Responsibilities
The responsibilities of the Perinatal Care Assistant encompass a variety of tasks, including:
- Providing personal care for mothers and infants.
- Conducting routine assessments of mothers and babies (including vital signs such as temperature, pulse, and blood pressure).
- Maintaining accurate records and performing administrative duties.
- Educating parents through one-on-one interactions or group sessions.
- Collecting blood samples for laboratory analysis.
- Preparing necessary equipment for procedures.
- Promoting and supporting breastfeeding initiatives.
- Reporting any concerns to the Midwifery team.
- Ensuring cleanliness and organization within the clinical environment.

Work Environment
