About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and qualified Health and Safety Specialist to join our team at Beech Holdings. As a key member of our organization, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our staff, residents, and other building users.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of information management systems for the safe management of buildings, ensuring accurate records and systems.
  • Provide expert advice and ensure compliance with regulations on fire and building safety, legionella, asbestos, electrical, and gas.
  • Conduct regular audits and inspections in accordance with a monitored program, identifying building hazards and ensuring remedial works are undertaken.
  • Communicate effectively with residents about the safe management of their building, influencing a culture of positive health, safety, and wellbeing within the company.
  • Coordinate the organization and evaluation of disaster recovery drills, ensuring the accident, incident, and near-miss reporting procedure is followed across our developments.
  • Establish positive relationships with a wide range of colleagues and suppliers, providing expert advice on all aspects of health, safety, and environmental matters.
  • Arrange and carry out site safety and environmental audits and safety inspections, maintaining records of audits and inspections, and ensuring necessary corrective measures are agreed and implemented.
  • Assist with incident/accident investigations, continuously seeking, proposing, and implementing agreed H&S and environmental performance improvements.
  • Support our current cultural drive to improve health, safety, and environmental standards on company projects and offices, providing statistical data to demonstrate where improvements can be made.
  • Identify root cause analysis of any incidents occurring, maintaining regular contact with all project teams and office managers to advise on SHE matters.
Requirements
  • NEBOSH Health & Safety Qualified
  • A relevant Fire Safety qualification accredited by the IFE or IFSM or equivalent
  • Comprehensive knowledge of H&S legislation and practice in Construction and Property Sector(s), residential apartments blocks, or similar
  • Solid understanding of high-risk residential buildings, including fire risk, construction, and M&E
  • Motivated, driven, and passionate about improvement of H&S
  • Good communicator, with a positive, pragmatic mindset, and a can-do attitude
  • Accountable, self-motivate, and results-driven
  • Excellent data logging, numerical, and IT skills
  • Able to work closely and establish positive relationships with colleagues
  • Experience in carrying out compliance inspections and audits
  • Ability to travel to all offices and buildings within the portfolio on a regular basis
  • A full clean UK driving license
  • Membership of a relevant organization (IOSH / IIRSM)
  • Relevant CSCS Card
  • Ability to work clearly and accurately under pressure and tight timescales
What We Offer
  • Full-time, permanent position based on site or in the office, occasional home working available
  • Circa £45-50,000 per annum depending on experience
  • 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with occasional weekend and callout work when required
  • Flexible hours
  • Manchester based with some travel across the UK
