Job Responsibilities

This role plays a crucial part in the agency's mission to ensure public safety by overseeing and monitoring individuals on probation as mandated by the Courts and the Parole Board, adhering to established standards. The objective is to improve community safety through effective supervision, follow-up, and the utilization of local resources, including the potential for commitment or re-commitment when necessary.

The officer will provide daily oversight to individuals requiring both intensive and standard supervision, evaluating their criminogenic and therapeutic needs. The position actively employs evidence-based methodologies, including proficient communication skills and techniques, to foster meaningful change within the individuals supervised. Collaboration with the probationers, district personnel, and community resources is essential to create and manage tailored treatment plans.

Additionally, the officer will conduct home and community visits as dictated by case requirements and supervision strategies. The officer may be required to testify and offer sentencing recommendations in court proceedings.

Essential Qualifications

Experience in individual counseling and case management with adults is essential, including direct service delivery. A solid understanding of the criminal justice framework, case management, and counseling strategies, including Motivational Interviewing and other evidence-based practices, is necessary. Strong report writing skills and the ability to engage effectively with individuals involved in the legal system are crucial. Candidates should demonstrate independent judgment and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups, including probationers, colleagues, and community professionals.

The selected candidate must meet the eligibility criteria to obtain the required certification.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is preferred. Bilingual and multilingual candidates are highly encouraged to apply.

Application Process

All applications must be submitted electronically through the designated recruitment system. It is important to check the application status through the applicant's account. Candidates selected for interviews will undergo a comprehensive background investigation, which may include fingerprint checks, local agency verifications, and employment history reviews.

Drug testing is mandatory for designated safety-sensitive positions. Compliance with substance use policies is required, particularly for roles involving firearms or commercial driving responsibilities.
