Role Overview:

Our client, a reputable housing association, is seeking a dedicated Housing and Community Officer to become an integral part of their team. This permanent position is fully office-based in Liverpool and presents a unique opportunity to positively impact the lives of residents and the wider community.

In this role, you will play a vital part in delivering essential services that support tenants in maintaining their tenancies and improving their living conditions.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide thorough guidance to tenants regarding tenancy issues, welfare benefits, and rehousing inquiries.
  • Assist tenants with specific support needs to ensure they fully benefit from their housing arrangements.
  • Support the Property Services Manager in achieving turnaround targets for vacant properties and oversee the lettings process.
  • Evaluate housing applications and manage allocations in accordance with our Lettings Policy.
  • Ensure efficient processing of tenancy terminations and new lettings, including handling notices and signing tenancy agreements.
  • Monitor and enforce tenancy conditions, collaborating closely with the Housing Management team to resolve disputes and manage breaches.
  • Work with the central finance team to oversee rent and service charge payments, taking proactive steps to minimize arrears.
  • Assist in legal proceedings when necessary, particularly in cases of rent arrears or other tenancy violations.
  • Conduct property inspections and tenancy audits, working with colleagues to maintain and enhance the quality of our housing environments.
  • Encourage tenant and resident involvement in service delivery and decision-making processes.
  • Address complaints in line with our established policies and procedures.
  • Participate in internal and external meetings, representing the interests of the Association.

Essential Qualifications:

Applicants should possess a solid understanding of the legal and regulatory framework governing social housing and property management, along with experience in delivering compliant services. Experience in supported housing is advantageous but not mandatory.

Candidates should have a background in General Needs housing or tenancy management, coupled with a genuine desire to assist individuals in maintaining their independence.

An awareness of the challenges faced by tenants or household members with learning disabilities, mental health issues, or physical and sensory impairments is essential.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills are crucial, along with experience in one-on-one customer interactions.

Good numeracy and literacy skills are required, as well as proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and a Housing Management system.
