Refine Recruitment is seeking a seasoned Principal Planning Policy Officer to join Castle Point Borough Council's Development Services team. This role offers the opportunity to shape the planning policy framework in a vibrant area with four towns and beautiful rural landscapes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement planning policies, creating and revising local planning policies and strategies, and aligning with national and regional planning guidelines.
  • Lead policy projects, overseeing complex planning policy projects from start to finish, conducting public consultations, and engaging with stakeholders.
  • Perform in-depth research and data analysis to inform policymaking, generating comprehensive reports and presentations for council sessions and external parties.
  • Collaborate with the Development Control team to ensure adherence to policies, represent the Council at public inquiries and hearings, and provide expert planning policy advice to council members and the public.
Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will have a degree in planning or a related discipline and preferably a Licentiate or full membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI). They will also have experience in policy development, project management, and stakeholder engagement.
