About the Role

The Database Engineering Team is a key service provider to all RWEST development teams, offering expertise in various DB engines like Oracle, MS SQL, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB. As a Team Lead, you will consult with RWEST application and platform teams on database architecture and operational questions in the AWS Multi-Account environment.

The team supports over a thousand databases, providing 24/7 support and requiring an expanded team size. Your responsibilities will include building and leading a team of 6 internal members, implementing Agile delivery, and establishing a good relationship with key stakeholders.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Build and lead a high-performing team of 6 internal members.
  • Implement a sustainable and efficient Agile way of team delivery.
  • Plan and implement high-level automation in regular tasks according to DevOps practices.
  • Establish strong relationships with key stakeholders and prioritize their requirements.
  • Be responsible for team career and people development.
  • Ensure all resources and training are in place for the team to provide standardized and resilient support services.
  • Act as key contact for all IT services delivered to RWEST.
  • Manage team priorities according to business needs and ensure ongoing IT requirements are met.
  • Balance resources between keep-lights-on support, change/enhancement worklists, and project deliveries.
  • Define and implement the team strategy delivering against business requirements.
  • Manage the team budget in accordance with latest agreed targets.
