About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Yard and Service Operations Manager to join our team at Brambles. As a key member of our Plant Leadership Team, you will be responsible for optimizing yard and service labor, material, and equipment resources to ensure efficient and effective operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safety and Security
    • Ensure a safe working environment for all employees by identifying and mitigating potential hazards.
    • Manage site security, including perimeter checks and CCTV monitoring.
  • Stock Management
    • Ensure accurate management of stocks, including finished product hire stock and raw materials.
    • Optimize stock holding efficiency to minimize storage costs.
  • Reporting and Data Management
    • Manage reporting of stock and flow movements to and from the plant.
    • Collect and validate key plant information for SAP.
  • Labour and Activity Management
    • Ensure efficient use of labor pool and minimize overtime.
    • Manage activity hours and ensure accurate reconciliation.
  • Process Improvement and Turnaround Performance
    • Contribute to process improvement initiatives within the yard and service department.
    • Monitor and improve site turnaround performance of hauliers.
  • Machinery and Equipment Management
    • Ensure safety and process equipment checks compliance.
  • Staff Management and Communication
    • Manage industrial relations issues within the team.
    • Enable and deliver excellent communication channels with all employees.
  • Training and Development
    • Ensure all shift members have the skills required to carry out their role.
    • Support network annual staff SAP and procedure reviews.
  • Customer Service and Procedural Compliance
    • Ensure issues are managed efficiently and effectively with customers and retailers.
    • Ensure service office and yard procedures are followed.
  • Purchasing and Stock Quality
    • Manage plant purchasing control of direct and indirect spend.
    • Ensure raw material quality control audits on inbound deliveries.
  • Waste Management and Sustainability
    • Manage completion of the legislative waste register.
    • Achieve improvement in disposal and rebate costs with a sustainability target of Zero to Landfill.
  • Subcontractor Management and Best Practice
    • Organize and control contractors in yard and service where necessary.
    • Promote the ethics and principles of lean, 5S, and team work.
  • Plant Leadership Team and Site Reception
    • Attend and contribute to Plant Leadership Team meetings.
    • Manage goods receipt of deliveries and first point of contractors/visitors management.

Requirements

  • 2-3 years supervisory experience in high volume manufacturing operations environment.
  • English & Maths qualifications.
  • Proven skills and capabilities in leadership, communication, people management, and problem solving.
  • IOSH Qualification.
  • FLT licence desirable.
  • Six-Sigma Green/Black Belt certification desirable.
  • Experience of leading and achieving results in an extremely target driven high volume manufacturing/transport environment.
  • Experience of Lean manufacturing and process control (six-sigma) techniques.
  • PC Literate - particularly strong Excel and SAP skills.
