We are seeking a dedicated Paediatric Nurse with a strong interest in haemoglobinopathies, specifically Sickle Cell Disease and Thalassaemia. This role is integral to our community health initiative aimed at enhancing the quality of care for individuals affected by these conditions.
If you are passionate about making a significant impact on health outcomes and service delivery, this position offers a valuable opportunity to apply your expertise in a supportive environment. The focus will be on health education and preventive measures to foster better health for our clients.
This role allows you to demonstrate your nursing skills and contribute to the provision of both specialized and general haemoglobinopathy services within the community.
Key Responsibilities
Collaborating with a team of experienced healthcare professionals, the successful candidate will play a crucial role in the establishment and continuous enhancement of a high-standard haemoglobinopathy service.
Responsibilities include:
- Providing clinical guidance and support to patients with haemoglobinopathies as part of a cohesive specialist team.
- Assisting in the formulation and evaluation of nursing and multidisciplinary team protocols and care strategies.
- Ensuring that updated care documents are effectively communicated to patients, their families, and relevant stakeholders.
- Partnering with patients and their families to design and implement tailored care programs.
- Delivering health advice aimed at promoting wellness, enhancing quality of life, and preventing health complications.
- Utilizing specialized skills to assess and interpret both acute and chronic health conditions, escalating issues as necessary.
- Offering support and clinical oversight following patient discharge.
- Providing educational sessions on haemoglobinopathy nursing topics.
- Fostering collaborative relationships with other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless care for patients and their families.

Qualifications and Experience
Essential
- Registered Nurse qualification.
- Progressing towards relevant post-registration qualifications.
- Teaching and assessing qualification or equivalent.
- A minimum of 2 years' experience in caring for patients with haemoglobinopathies.
Desirable
- Relevant post-registration qualification in haemoglobinopathies.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Essential
- In-depth knowledge of sickle cell disease, thalassaemia, and related blood disorders.
- Proficiency in cannulation and phlebotomy.
- Ability to adapt to a dynamic healthcare environment.
