Job Summary
The Deputy Manager Dual Home will support the Registered Manager of the home in delivering high-quality care to young people. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of child protection and safeguarding procedures, as well as experience in managing a team.
Main Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver high-quality care in accordance with relevant legislation, regulations, and organisational policies.
- Support the Registered Manager in maintaining accurate records and implementing monitoring and evaluation systems.
- Contribute to the development of new techniques and approaches to child care provision.
- Attend and chair meetings, both internally and externally, as required.
- Take on-call responsibilities and participate in sleep-in shifts as needed.
- Write concise and evaluative reports, and contribute to overseeing all written communication.
- Make decisions in the absence of the Registered Manager.
Human Resource Management
- Be involved in the recruitment of new employees, ensuring all relevant checks are completed.
- Support the Registered Manager in ensuring staff are adequately inducted, supervised, and appraised.
- Support the Registered Manager in meeting the Continuous Professional Development needs of the staff team.
- Undertake investigations of grievances, complaints, and disciplinary matters, as required.
Management of Physical and Financial Resources
- Support the Registered Manager in monitoring the service budget and financial transactions.
- Effectively report any maintenance issues to ensure the service premises and equipment meet requirements.
External Affairs
- Promote the organisation in a positive way with external agencies, other professionals, and members of the general public, as required.
- Liaise with commissioners/referrals manager regarding admissions.
Required Attributes
- Enthusiasm in providing high-quality care and education.
- Experience in managing a team.
- Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of child protection and safeguarding procedures.
- Level qualification in Children's and Young People's Workforce or equivalent.
- Level qualification in Leadership and Management or willingness to complete the qualification.
- Familiarity with the needs of vulnerable individuals.
- Demonstrate high standards of safe working practice.
- Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships.
- Ability to maintain emotional resilience in working with challenging behaviour.
- Demonstrate respect for appropriate boundaries and authority.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times.
- Demonstrate an understanding and commitment to equal opportunities.
- Holds a current UK driving licence or has the use of appropriate transport.
- Flexible and reliable.
