Main Purpose of Job

The Deputy Manager Dual Home will support the Registered Manager of the home in delivering high-quality care to young people, ensuring the home promotes their rights and provides quality care in accordance with organisational policies and procedures.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develop and deliver high-quality care in accordance with relevant legislation, regulations, and organisational policies, demonstrating an awareness of equal opportunities and anti-discriminatory practices.
  • Adhere to health and safety guidelines, ensuring staff have adequate working knowledge and training.
  • Support the manager in maintaining records and implementing monitoring and evaluation systems.
  • Develop and promote new techniques and approaches to child care provision, contributing to the senior team's well-being.
  • Attend and chair meetings, both internally and externally, alongside the Registered Manager.
  • Take on-call responsibilities and undertake sleep-in shifts as required.
  • Write concise and evaluative reports, contributing to overseeing written communication to sustain required standards.
  • Make decisions in the absence of the Registered Manager.
Human Resource Management
  • Be involved in the recruitment of new employees, ensuring relevant checks are completed.
  • Support the Registered Manager in ensuring staff are adequately inducted, supervised, and appraised.
  • Support the Registered Manager in meeting staff's continuous professional development needs, ensuring mandatory training requirements are met.
  • Undertake investigations of grievances, complaints, and disciplinary matters in accordance with organisational policies and procedures.
Management of Physical and Financial Resources
  • Support the Registered Manager in monitoring the service budget and financial transactions, ensuring financial targets are achieved.
  • Effectively report maintenance issues to ensure service premises and equipment meet requirements.
External Affairs
  • Promote the organisation in a positive way with external agencies, professionals, and the public as required.
  • Liaise with commissioners and referrals managers regarding admissions.
Required Attributes
  • Enthusiasm in providing high-quality care and education.
  • Experience in managing a team.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of child protection and safeguarding procedures.
  • Level qualification in Children's and Young People's Workforce or equivalent.
  • Level qualification in Leadership and Management or willingness to complete the qualification.
  • Familiarity with the needs of vulnerable individuals.
  • Demonstrate high standards of safe working practice.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Ability to maintain emotional resilience in working with challenging behaviour.
  • Demonstrate respect for appropriate boundaries and authority.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times.
  • Demonstrate an understanding and commitment to equal opportunities.
  • Holds a current UK driving licence or has the use of appropriate transport.
  • Flexible and reliable.
  • Participate in management forums and contribute to the development of work practice, policies, and procedures.
Benefits
  • Days per annum plus Bank Holidays.
  • Hours full-time, sleep-in duties required as set out per Rota of home. Some office days will be required to assist in administrative duties.
