Position Overview

We are looking for a dedicated Band 6 Registered Nurse to enhance and validate data related to rare kidney diseases at various Kidney Centres. This role involves collaborating with these designated Centres to improve the accuracy and thoroughness of the information maintained in the Registry of Rare Kidney Diseases (RaDaR). Additionally, the nurse will be responsible for recruiting patients diagnosed with C3G and IC-MPGN from hospital records into this registry whenever feasible.

Key Aspects of the Role :

This position is supported by the UK Kidney Association (UKKA) and is part of a national initiative with opportunities in various locations. The successful candidate will primarily be based in Exeter but will be required to travel to other locations to collaborate with renal clinical teams.

The UKKA serves as the foremost professional organization for the renal community in the UK, striving to enhance lives by empowering professionals in kidney care and research. They welcome individuals engaged in clinical renal care, research, and related fields. The UK Renal Registry, a division of the UKKA, is responsible for the collection, analysis, and management of a high-quality clinical renal database, utilizing data from renal centres nationwide to facilitate research aimed at improving patient care.

Primary Duties

1. Collaborate with key stakeholders, including UKKA colleagues and participating Kidney Centres, to gain insights into the rare disease datasets within the RaDaR registry and the C3G and IC-MPGN study.

2. Establish strong working relationships with essential contacts at each assigned Centre to develop a coordinated plan for accessing relevant medical records and biopsy reports.

3. Partner with the RaDaR senior data manager to perform audits of the data for pertinent rare disease groups at each assigned Centre, identifying gaps and inaccuracies.

4. Conduct on-site visits to relevant Centres, working with key contacts to prioritize data items for enrichment activities.

5. Coordinate with UK Renal Registry contacts, especially the RaDaR senior data manager, to obtain data completeness reports and guidance on locating necessary data items.

6. Review local records alongside the report to cross-reference against data held in the RaDaR registry.

7. Where discrepancies or gaps exist, manually update, transcribe, and enhance the data.

8. Perform follow-up audits with the RaDaR senior data manager to ensure improvements in data quality.

9. Provide regular updates and reports to the senior project manager, Rare Disease Groups, and RaDaR Chairs.

Candidate Profile

We seek an individual with a proactive and motivated approach, capable of using their initiative and demonstrating innovation. A solid understanding of data and renal terminology is essential, along with proven IT skills and competence in data management. The role requires the ability to work independently, prioritize tasks effectively, and meet deadlines.
