This role is situated within our vibrant multidisciplinary teams, aiming to provide high-quality care to our diverse patient population. The consultant position will be structured to encompass 10 programmed activities (PA), with the objective of advancing the trauma and orthopaedic services we deliver. This is a one-year fixed-term role, with intentions to transition to a permanent position in the future. The appointee will also be responsible for triaging patient referrals, which will facilitate improved decision-making in clinical settings and for further referrals. Collaboration with colleagues and management is essential to develop efficient patient pathways, ensuring seamless service delivery and educational initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities will also include supporting and mentoring junior staff within the department. A comprehensive background in managing Orthopaedic inpatients, outpatients, and trauma cases is required, along with active participation in all facets of orthopaedic patient pathways. The appointee will play a pivotal role in enhancing existing hip and knee services, providing thorough consultant-level care for lower limb patients and trauma cases. This position is integral to the Trauma and Orthopaedics department, focusing on expediting patient diagnosis, initiating necessary investigations, and formulating management and treatment strategies for orthopaedic conditions.

Candidates must possess full GMC Registration or be within six months of completing their post-CCT training.
