Key Responsibilities:

The BAE Systems Air team is on the lookout for innovative and talented individuals in the UK to drive and enhance Mission Systems capabilities across our premier Engineering programs: the Future Combat Air System (FCAS), FalconWorks, and Eurofighter Typhoon.

Within these initiatives, we are advancing the next generation of aircraft systems, including Cockpit Controls, Navigation Systems, Weapons Integration, Advanced Sensing, and Helmet Mounted Displays.

Our Mission Systems Engineers lead these development efforts by:

  • Formulating system and sub-system technical specifications
  • Designing system architectures and simulating performance
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, including Software, Mechanical Engineering, Design, and Electronics
  • Managing tasks assigned by the Systems Engineering Manager and crafting engineering plans to implement solutions
  • Critically evaluating challenges and proposing innovative solutions

Required Skills and Experience:
Essential: A degree in Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, or Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Aerospace, Systems, or Software) Resilient problem-solving and decision-making abilities, along with strong analytical skills A desire to learn and expand Mission Systems expertise A proactive approach to engaging in innovative projects Familiarity with systems engineering tools (e.g., MATLAB, Simulink, Cameo, IBM DOORS, PLM Teamcenter) Understanding of Model Based Systems Engineering methodologies (e.g., SysML, UML)

Preferred Qualifications:
Relevant post-education experience in an engineering or technology role.
