Job Title: Mentoring and Employment Support Officer

Job Category: Human Resources

Contract Type: Ongoing contract

Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm (Hybrid working and field-based)

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement innovative, safe, and engaging activities to support local young people in achieving their goals, including virtual delivery where beneficial.
  • Build trust and rapport with young people to help them consider their options and become motivated about their future.
  • Provide expert mentoring support to enhance employability skills and ensure outstanding and sustainable outcomes in relation to further education, employment, and skills.
  • Manage a caseload of NEETs, ensuring a consistent and quality regular mentoring service, creating bespoke career pathway plans, and supporting young people towards their agreed outcomes.
  • Establish connections and collaborate with various partners, including youth and community organizations, education and training providers, to generate effective networks and joined-up approaches to promote essential life skills.
  • Ensure quality assurance procedures are in place and implemented across the project, working with other staff to maintain standards and meet stated outcomes.
  • Undertake 1:1 mentoring and coaching sessions, helping clients create CVs and develop job search skills, including individuals seeking to enter employment and/or learning to achieve their goals.
  • Create individual SMART action plans with clear goals.
Requirements:
  • Preferably Level 3 Mentorship qualification
  • Experience working in a housing association or council
  • Extensive knowledge of the current and developing national context in which Careers information advice and guidance for young adults sits
  • Knowledge of customer service standards
  • Knowledge of implementing systems to gather and accurately process data
  • Knowledge of Information & Communications Technology
