About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our team at Babcock International, working on the Devonport site. As a key member of the Engineering Team, you will be responsible for delivering designs for infrastructure upgrades on the existing dry dock, which will be used for submarine defuels.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in mechanical design, with experience in working on nuclear licensed sites. You will be responsible for overseeing the generation of 3D models, 2D CAD drawings, and BOMs, as well as updating existing design records and maintaining project registers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver designs for infrastructure upgrades on the existing dry dock
  • Oversee the generation of 3D models, 2D CAD drawings, and BOMs
  • Update existing design records and maintain project registers
  • Work closely with the Engineering Team to ensure successful project delivery
Requirements
  • Demonstrable experience and knowledge of engineering works, including mechanical handling and mechanical or electrical systems/services
  • Experience of mechanical design, including new or modification to structures and systems
  • Ability to follow a nuclear safety-led engineering process and maintain accurate records and document/drawing revision control
  • Effective report writing and presentation skills
  • Knowledge of Autodesk Inventor or similar software
