Job Summary

The Director of Nursing and Operations Lead will be responsible for the leadership and management of nursing and midwifery services across the Clinical Service Units (CSU) at Leeds Teaching Hospitals. This role will oversee the line management of Matrons within the CSU and the management of specific clinical services/areas.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Management
    • Provide strategic direction and vision for nursing and midwifery services
    • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure high-quality patient care
  • Communication
    • Establish and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders, including clinicians, managers, and external partners
    • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and carers to ensure their needs are met
  • Care and Service Delivery
    • Ensure the delivery of safe, clinically effective, and compassionate nursing and midwifery care
    • Monitor and evaluate the quality of care and services, making recommendations for improvement
  • Financial Responsibility
    • Manage budgets and resources to ensure efficient use of financial resources
    • Develop and implement cost-saving initiatives to improve financial performance
  • Human Resources, Education, and Training
    • Develop and implement strategies to attract, retain, and develop nursing and midwifery staff
    • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and professional standards
  • Act as a Member of the CSU Triumvirate
    • Contribute to the development and implementation of CSU strategies and plans
    • Collaborate with other members of the CSU Triumvirate to achieve shared goals and objectives
Requirements

The successful candidate will have:

  • Proven leadership and management experience in a healthcare setting
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge of nursing and midwifery practice and professional standards
  • Ability to analyze complex data and make informed decisions
Working Arrangements

This role will be based at Leeds Teaching Hospitals and will require regular travel to other sites within the organization.
