  • Children's Services: Lead and deliver high-quality programs that create a safe and welcoming environment for the children of inmates, ensuring services for children in the Visitor Center and facilitating play sessions in the visiting area.
  • Team Leadership: Provide supportive, encouraging, and person-centered management to Family Support Workers, volunteers, and student placements. Recruit, train, and supervise staff and volunteers.
  • Operational Planning and Monitoring: Develop and execute the local operational plan for the service, compile statistics, and provide regular reports to senior management.
  • Health and Safety Management: Promote and oversee the health, safety, and welfare of volunteers and student placements within the team and service.
  • Safeguarding Practices: Implement and promote safeguarding policies, ensuring that concerns are reported in accordance with established protocols.
  • Data Protection Compliance: Enforce data protection and security policies, ensuring that inmate and family information is securely maintained.
  • User Engagement: Actively involve service users in accordance with the service user engagement policy and strategy.
  • Diversity and Equal Opportunities: Advocate for diversity and ensure that services are accessible to all users.
  • Adherence to Prison Policies: Comply with prison security and other relevant policies, attending necessary training provided by the institution.
  • Financial Oversight: Assist in the effective management of the budget with support from the Services Manager/Head of Services Delivery and Development.
  • Collaborative Partnerships: Serve as the lead for family services within the prison, participating in operational review meetings, stakeholder groups, focus groups, and collaborative efforts with other services.
Essential Qualifications:
  • Understanding of the criminal justice system and the effects of incarceration on inmates and their families.
  • Clear comprehension of professional boundaries.
  • Experience supporting individuals with complex needs in a multi-agency context.
  • Prior experience in a prison environment and awareness of the challenges in delivering comprehensive family services.
  • Strong numeracy and literacy skills.
  • Exceptional advocacy, communication (both verbal and written), and interpersonal abilities.
  • Outstanding organizational skills and capacity to manage a demanding workload.
  • Empathy for children and families of inmates.
  • Results-driven with a proactive attitude.
  • Able to maintain composure in challenging situations.
  • Commitment to ongoing personal development and learning.
