Overview of the Role

The Acute Admissions Unit (AAU) at Barts Health NHS Trust is a vibrant 59-bed medical admissions facility, featuring 12 monitored beds and a rapid assessment area. Our unit handles a diverse array of intricate acute medical conditions, including level 2 patients requiring non-invasive ventilation (NIV).

We also operate an Ambulatory Care Unit. We are seeking a proactive, enthusiastic, and dedicated individual who possesses the expertise and experience to enhance our Senior Nursing Team on the AAU.

Key Responsibilities

To deliver the highest standard of personalized and comprehensive patient care in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team. To act in the capacity of the Senior Sister/Charge Nurse as part of the broader Band 6 team, ensuring that the highest standards of care are upheld and that staff are supported, evaluated, and developed to meet these standards.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered Nurse
  • Intravenous accreditation
  • Completion of Mentorship preparation course or equivalent
  • Relevant Specialist Clinical Course or equivalent.
  • Meets KSF outline for Staff Nurse (Band 5)

Desirable

  • BSc in Nursing or currently pursuing

Skills

Essential

  • Shift coordination abilities.
  • Capacity to identify acutely unwell patients.
  • Competence in caring for level 2 patients.

Service Improvement

  • Understanding of current and emerging NHS strategies and policies
  • Ability to provide constructive feedback for service enhancement
