Overview
Position Summary:
As a Calibration Service Technician, you will operate in a field-based capacity, responsible for executing calibrations at various client locations. Your role will involve delivering a safe, proactive, and comprehensive calibration service to support clients in maintaining their instrumentation and systems across electrical, flow, pressure, and temperature parameters.
Location Preference:
The ideal candidate will reside in the Gloucestershire, Hereford, or West Midlands regions.
We provide a company vehicle, communication devices, and necessary tools, along with additional benefits.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct calibrations on client equipment following approved protocols and established metrology practices.
- Calibrate measurement instruments that control and monitor flow, level, pressure, and temperature systems, adhering to company procedures and UKAS and NADCAP standards.
- Offer technical support and development to both colleagues and clients.
- Install, configure, commission, calibrate, and repair on-site instrumentation.
- Perform all tasks in compliance with company Health & Safety policies, site safety regulations, and risk assessment protocols.
- Engage with clients prior to job execution to ensure a complete understanding of job requirements and safety measures.
- Adhere to industry best practices and the company’s Quality Management System.
- Ensure all documentation and certifications are accurate and submitted promptly.
- Foster effective working relationships with internal teams and external clients.
Qualifications, Skills, and Attributes:
Core Requirements:
- Apprentice trained in calibration or a related engineering discipline with transferable skills.
- Understanding of and compliance with safe working systems.
- Hands-on experience with flow, level, pressure, and temperature instrumentation.
- Self-motivated with a strong attention to detail.
- Able to work independently and collaboratively with a team of Calibration Engineers.
- Professional demeanor with strong interpersonal communication skills.
- Willingness to travel frequently, including overnight stays.
- Availability for overtime, including occasional weekends.
- Proficient in computer skills, particularly Microsoft Office.
- NVQ Level 3 in electrical/electronic discipline or equivalent qualification.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- A valid UK driving license is essential.
Desirable Skills and Experience:
- Preferably qualified to HNC/HND in a relevant engineering field.
- Previous experience in a calibration role with a solid understanding of calibration practices for industrial ovens, furnaces, and refrigeration systems.
- Completion of the PRI Introduction to Pyrometry course for AMS2750 and knowledge of pyrometry to NADCAP/aerospace standards.
- Ability to configure, commission, install, and repair instrumentation.
