Job Title: Special Education Needs Support Assistant

We are seeking a skilled and knowledgeable individual to join our team as a Special Education Needs Support Assistant. The successful candidate will work on a 1:1 basis with a pupil on the SEND register in KS2, providing support and guidance to ensure their emotional needs are met.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide individualized support to the pupil, promoting their happiness, progress, and success within the mainstream setting.
  • Work collaboratively with the class teacher and other support staff to develop and implement personalized learning plans.
  • Support the pupil in developing their social and emotional skills, including self-regulation, self-awareness, and self-expression.
  • Assist the pupil in accessing the curriculum, including adapting materials and providing additional support as needed.
  • Communicate effectively with the pupil, parents, and other stakeholders to ensure a cohesive and supportive learning environment.
Requirements:
  • Previous experience working with children in a school setting, preferably in a SEND role.
  • Strong understanding of child development and the needs of children with SEND.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with pupils, parents, and colleagues.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a flexible and adaptable approach to meeting the needs of the pupil and the school.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and training to ensure the highest standards of practice.
