Expert Psychiatrist for Community Care

The Trust is looking for a Senior Psychiatric Consultant to join the Sarum Community Mental Health Team (CMHT). This position offers a remarkable chance to collaborate within a well-established multi-disciplinary team that prioritizes patient-centered care.
The successful candidate will be instrumental in the multi-disciplinary team, providing expert advice and conducting assessments for patients under the Working Adult CMHT service. Close collaboration with local services and general practitioners is essential.
Salisbury features a robust academic program on a weekly basis, complemented by a monthly Professional Development Plan (PDP) group and Peer Supervision. Continuous Professional Development (CPD) activities are encouraged, and the role includes provisions for study leave, as well as opportunities for research, service enhancement, and leadership.
Key ResponsibilitiesThe Consultant will be responsible for assessing and treating service users in the community:
- Conduct urgent and routine psychiatric evaluations as required.
- Communicate with GPs regarding the medical monitoring results of service users.
- Coordinate with various service components and external organizations as necessary.
- Provide guidance and consultation to multi-disciplinary team members and participate in MDT meetings regularly.
- Ensure accurate and timely documentation and communication of clinical decisions and management strategies.

Qualifications- MB BS or equivalent medical qualification.
- Relevant higher degree, such as MD, PhD, MSc, or other additional clinical qualifications.
- MRCPsych or equivalent approved by the Royal College of Psychiatrists.
- Fully registered with the GMC with a license to practice at the time of appointment.
- Included on the GMC Specialist Register or within six months of obtaining CCT.
- Approved clinician status or able to achieve within three months of appointment.
- Approved under S12 or able to achieve within three months of appointment.
- CCT in General Adult Psychiatry.
- Proven experience in assessing and treating patients in a community setting.
- Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong time management skills and ability to prioritize clinical responsibilities.
- Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with patients, caregivers, and colleagues.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication abilities.
- Capability to assess and manage psychiatric issues in adults of working age and handle crisis situations effectively.
- Comprehensive understanding of the management skills necessary for success as a Consultant.
- Dedication to and experience in undergraduate and postgraduate education and training.
- Understanding of educational principles.
- Involvement in research projects and publications.
- Experience in conducting audit projects.
- Evidence of training in management and leadership skills.
This position is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975, necessitating a Disclosure submission to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly CRB) to verify any prior criminal convictions.
Salary: £93,666 to £126,281 per annum pro rata.
