Are you seeking a fulfilling opportunity within a feminist organization dedicated to ending gender-based violence? We invite you to consider joining our team as a Sessional Play Worker at Solace Women's Aid.

Our mission is to eradicate the harm caused by gender-based violence, focusing on prevention and providing tailored services for survivors, particularly women and children. We adopt a holistic and empowering approach, working closely with survivors to help them lead independent lives free from abuse.

About Our Services:

The Haringey Generic Refuges offer emergency accommodation for women and children escaping domestic abuse and sexual violence. We support families during crises, assisting them in taking their initial steps toward freedom and recovery.

Role Overview:

As a Sessional Play Worker, you will play a vital role in planning and delivering engaging sessions and activities for children and young people residing in the refuge. Your responsibilities will include listening to children's feedback to tailor services to their needs and aspirations. You will create a playful, stimulating, and enjoyable environment that promotes well-being and encourages active participation during play sessions.

Working in collaboration with the Family Support Worker, you will inspire all children to engage in activities, ensuring they have fun while fostering their learning, well-being, and social skills. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, enthusiasm, and creativity.

Candidate Profile:

The successful applicant will have a deep understanding of domestic abuse and its effects on children, along with practical experience working with young people. You should demonstrate the ability to work independently and as part of a team. A minimum of NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in childcare, playwork, youth work, sports coaching, or creative arts is preferred. We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, expecting all staff to share this commitment.

While you may not meet every requirement listed in the job profile, your interpersonal skills, passion for making a positive impact, commitment to our mission, and ability to learn quickly and collaborate effectively are equally important.

Benefits:

We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including:

  • Flexible working arrangements
  • Focus on professional development and internal career progression
  • Generous holiday entitlement
  • Employer pension contributions
  • Family-friendly leave policies
  • Access to Inclusion Networks
  • Daily clinical debriefing
  • Employee Assistance Programme for 24/7 support
  • Employee Benefits Platform with discounts and savings
  • Wellness activities such as yoga and meditation
  • Cycle to Work Scheme
