We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Clinical Nurse Specialist in Asthma to join our team at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing expert care and support to patients with asthma, as well as contributing to the development of new services and research initiatives.
Key Responsibilities- Provide on-going care, treatment, and advice to patients with asthma via remote working technologies and face-to-face in outpatient clinics.
- Deliver one-stop difficult asthma day case services with Consultant colleagues, ensuring safe and effective care that meets commissioners' requirements.
- Advise, educate, and support nursing and medical staff to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate programs of care for adults with asthma.
- Support the allergy nurse and liaise with the allergy team in managing difficult asthma patients.
- Act as an expert resource for adults and their families, providing advice, education, and support to empower them to manage their treatment regime.
- Nursing degree BSc level
- Relevant post-registration qualification
- Mentorship qualification
- Excellent organizational skills
- Able to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team
- Enthusiasm and commitment to the specialty
- Flexibility to reflect on, review, and change practice in the light of research and personal experience
- Master's level or working towards this level of education
- Qualification in asthma module
- Research qualification
- Qualification in or ambition to achieve Non-medical prescribers course
- Advanced understanding of the asthma clinical field, including diagnostics, assessment, and treatments
- Ability to work with databases
- Experience of national working within the field
- Able to competently deliver educational sessions to regional networks
- Experience of disseminating work through presentations and publications
