Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic physiotherapist to join our team as a Pulmonary Rehabilitation Specialist. The successful candidate will have a strong background in respiratory physiotherapy and leadership experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the delivery of pulmonary rehabilitation services, ensuring high-quality care for patients with chronic respiratory conditions.
  • Supervise and mentor physiotherapists, physiotherapy assistants, and students, providing guidance on respiratory physiotherapy management and treatment plans.
  • Develop and implement evidence-based projects to improve respiratory physiotherapy services, including recommendations for change in practice and departmental research and audit.
  • Assess and treat patients with complex respiratory conditions, using advanced clinical reasoning skills and a wide range of treatment options.
  • Provide specialist advice and guidance to junior team members and other healthcare professionals on respiratory physiotherapy care and treatment.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of clinical governance policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with trust standards.
  • Maintain accurate written records using the POMR system and supervise team record keeping, including comprehensive progress and discharge reports.
Requirements
  • HCPC registration and degree in physiotherapy.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development (CPD) relevant to respiratory physiotherapy.
  • Leadership and/or management training.
  • Significant experience at Band 6 level in a broad range of settings, including critical care, surgery, medicine, and rehabilitation.
  • Experience in the physiotherapy management of COPD and other chronic respiratory diseases.
  • Significant multidisciplinary team (MDT) working experience.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
  • Band 7 experience in a respiratory setting.
  • Significant experience in physiotherapy management of COPD patients and pulmonary rehabilitation.
  • Specialist knowledge of relevant respiratory physiotherapy principles in acute presentations and disease management.
  • Understanding of clinical governance and the implications for physiotherapy services, including experience of quality issues and audit.
