Coating Chemist

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Coating Chemist to join our R&D team at Pulpex Ltd. As part of a multi-disciplinary team, you will be responsible for developing, formulating, and testing high-performance coatings to deliver enhanced performance and drive the transition to sustainable packaging at scale.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop and Optimize Coating Formulations: Create new coating formulations to meet specific performance criteria, such as barrier performance, durability, and appearance.
- Coating Process Optimization: Develop and optimize coating processes for application, ensuring uniform coverage and adhesion.
- Coating Characterization: Work with the barrier chemistry team to characterize coating properties using various analytical techniques and instrumentation.
- Formulation Optimization for Industrialization: Optimize formulations for deployment onto Pulpex Packaging by the Industrialization team.
- Record Keeping and Reporting: Maintain detailed records of formulation recipes, test results, and process parameters. Prepare technical reports, presentations, and documentation for internal use and external stakeholders.
- Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with cross-functional teams from R&D through to Production, both internally at Pulpex and externally with Academic, Supply Chain, and Commercial partners.
- Master's Degree in Relevant Discipline: A Master's Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Material Science with a minimum of 2 years of post-graduate experience working in an industrial setting.
- Problem-Solving and Initiative: A keen eye for detail and problem-solving mindset, with the ability to take the initiative and dictate own workload during busier periods.
