Position Overview

The realm of Critical Care nursing merges cutting-edge techniques and technology with the utmost commitment to personalized patient care. We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Senior Critical Care Nurse Educator to enhance our Critical Care team by addressing the educational requirements of our nursing staff.

We invite applications from enthusiastic individuals with substantial critical care experience who can invigorate our existing Clinical Education team. Candidates should possess considerable post-qualification experience in critical care, ideally having completed a relevant specialty course.

The successful applicant will engage directly with new staff and students, ensuring they achieve their required competencies.

Key Responsibilities

The Critical Care Complex comprises a 28-bed unit that caters to patients needing level 2 and level 3 support across various specialties, including post-operative care for major surgeries, organ support for both medical and surgical patients, and emergency care through the Emergency Department.

Our dedicated team of over 170 nurses and 15 critical care consultants collaborates with a diverse range of healthcare professionals to provide exceptional patient care. We operate as a highly skilled, multidisciplinary team across multiple specialties.

Successful candidates should have extensive recent experience in a comparable Critical Care environment and hold qualifications relevant to the specialty.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Collaborate with senior colleagues to identify, support, and promote advancements in nursing practice.
  2. Practice as a professional nurse with confidence, authority, and expertise, serving as a role model for all staff in the pursuit of clinical excellence and ensuring high-quality service delivery.
  3. Ensure that personal and team practices align with the NMC Code and operate within the limits of competence.
  4. Demonstrate a competent range of clinical skills to engage in Enhanced Clinical Skills, recognizing the extended role status of all staff within the area of responsibility.
  5. Contribute to the formulation of policies and guidelines pertinent to nursing practice within the Critical Care Complex.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered Nurse on the appropriate part of the NMC register.
  • Completion of a mentorship preparation program or equivalent, applicable to the clinical area.
  • Post-registration qualification relevant to the clinical area.

Experience

Essential

  • Significant experience at Band 5 level, with some experience in a position relevant to the specialty.
  • Experience in teaching and providing training.

Skills

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Competency in advanced clinical skills, including enhanced practice.
