Position Overview

An exceptional opportunity exists for a Band 5 Clinical Imaging Specialist to deliver a variety of medical imaging services to a diverse clinical team. This role will involve collaboration across multiple locations, ensuring comprehensive support for various clinics, including specialized services.

The ideal candidate will possess a degree in Medical Imaging or Photography, complemented by relevant experience or a willingness to undergo training. Preference will be given to candidates who are AHCS registered or eligible, and who demonstrate proficiency in digital imaging software, particularly Adobe Photoshop and Creative Cloud. A solid understanding of image management and digital technology is essential for effectively processing clinical images for patient records.

Successful applicants should be self-driven, organized, and resourceful, with strong communication skills to foster effective teamwork. The ability to prioritize tasks efficiently and maintain composure in a dynamic clinical setting is crucial. A meticulous approach to delivering high-quality work consistently is a must.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Imaging Duties:

  • Travel between various sites to perform a range of clinical imaging activities, capturing images of medical, dental, and surgical conditions that contribute to patient medical records.
  • Utilize a variety of standard and specialized imaging equipment to achieve optimal image quality.
  • Employ appropriate lighting techniques to accurately depict patient conditions.
  • Effectively position patients for imaging and communicate procedures clearly.
  • Maintain a basic understanding of medical terminology to accurately record conditions as described by healthcare professionals.
  • Adhere to established patient imaging guidelines to ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Be sensitive to the emotional impact of patients' conditions during imaging sessions.
  • Respond to inquiries regarding imaging services and provide relevant information as needed.
  • Ensure timely completion of imaging tasks while maintaining quality standards.
  • Responsible for the secure upload of clinical images to a centralized digital archive, ensuring quality control and proper documentation.
  • Uphold Information Governance standards in accordance with organizational policies.

Non-Clinical Imaging Duties:

  • Capture images of facilities, equipment, and other subjects as required.
  • Document public relations events and process images under tight deadlines.
  • Produce training materials through photography for educational purposes.

Qualifications

Essential:

  • BSc in Medical Imaging or Photography.
  • Strong technical knowledge of digital imaging processes.
  • Proficiency in Photoshop software.

Desirable:

  • Experience with Digital Asset Management systems.
  • Knowledge of color management in digital imaging.
  • Experience in clinical photography.

Experience

Essential:

  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team.
  • Flexibility to adapt to varying work demands.
  • Effective communication skills with patients and clinical staff.

Desirable:

  • Experience in general photography practices.
  • Familiarity with dermatoscopic imaging.
