The ideal candidate will possess exceptional organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills, alongside proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, and Microsoft Office.

The team consists of a manager and Clinical Imaging Specialists.

We are searching for a candidate who can work independently and collaboratively to implement innovative processes and protocols that enhance patient care and departmental efficiency.

As a Clinical Imaging Specialist, you will be responsible for capturing high-quality images of patients in various settings, including professional studios, wards, and operating theatres.


Your role will involve producing images that are essential for medical records, educational purposes, and publishing.

Additionally, the position may require involvement in graphic design and video production to support the Trust's objectives in patient care, research, education, and corporate communications.

  • Engage in all aspects of clinical and scientific imaging for patients of all ages in diverse environments including studios, wards, clinics, and operating theatres.
  • Ensure high standards of photographic quality, producing images that are medically and legally significant, demonstrating proficiency with studio lighting and accurate exposure settings.
  • Employ the most suitable photographic techniques to effectively illustrate patient conditions.
  • Utilize image processing and layout design software such as Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, and Bridge for post-production tasks.
  • Use word processing software for creating educational materials and reports.
  • Respond to urgent clinical photography requests, including theatre and pediatric cases.
  • Capture images in high-pressure situations with speed and precision to avoid delaying patient treatment.
  • Operate advanced imaging systems and edit patient imagery for internal display.
  • Adhere to specifications for medico-legal photography, ensuring accuracy and true representation of conditions.
  • Participate in video production projects, including planning, filming, and editing.
  • Handle general photographic assignments, including public relations photography and portraiture.
  • Conduct outpatient imaging tasks while adhering to health and safety protocols.
  • Collaborate with ward staff to prepare in-patients for imaging sessions.
  • Provide services in sensitive situations, such as trauma and post-mortem examinations.


  • Participate in Teledermatology clinics, delivering timely photographic services for cancer referral pathways.
  • Stay informed about technological advancements and trends in clinical imaging.
  • Assist in the adoption of new technologies and techniques for innovative imaging solutions.
  • Understand and apply patient consent protocols within medical imaging.
  • Ensure patients are informed about the imaging process and consent implications.
  • Communicate effectively regarding consent levels, confidentiality, and data protection guidelines.
  • Build strong working relationships with clinicians to meet their imaging needs.
  • Maintain an up-to-date Continuous Professional Development (CPD) portfolio as recommended by professional bodies.
  • Occasionally work outside standard hours for special events or emergencies.
  • Be prepared to work at various Trust locations as required.
All responsibilities must be performed under supervision or in accordance with Trust policies. It is essential to seek guidance for any tasks outside your expertise.
