Postdoctoral Research Assistant in Experimental Fluid Mechanics

We are seeking a highly skilled Postdoctoral Research Assistant to join our Environmental Fluid Mechanics research group at the Department of Engineering Science, University of Oxford. The successful candidate will be part of a large team of researchers working on wind and tidal energy projects, and will contribute to the design and testing of tidal stream turbines and platform concepts for renewable energy generation.
Key Responsibilities:- Design and test tidal stream turbines and platform concepts for renewable energy generation
- Work jointly on the Supergen ORE Hub Tidal Turbine Benchmarking project, leading testing of a highly instrumented turbine in waves and currents
- Contribute to the design of laboratory turbines, and be responsible for coordinating their manufacture and assembly
- Lead turbine testing campaigns at Oxford and external facilities, and related data analysis
- Relevant PhD (or near completion) in Engineering or a related discipline
- Strong background and relevant experience in experimental fluid mechanics
- Excellent communication skills
- Fixed-term contract for 3 years with the possibility of extension
- Opportunity to work on a highly instrumented turbine project
- Collaboration with a large team of researchers working on wind and tidal energy projects
