Consultant Psychiatrist in Intellectual Disability

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Psychiatrist to join our team in the North Norfolk Community Learning Disability Team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing clinical leadership and expertise in the assessment and management of complex mental disorders and challenging behavior in individuals with intellectual disabilities.
Main Responsibilities:- Undertake clinical assessments of referrals within the North Norfolk CLDT and provide advice on the management of complex mental disorders and challenging behavior.
- Support CPA and S117 review processes through outpatient clinics and domiciliary visits.
- Support the rehabilitation of patients from the North Norfolk locality who are within inpatient services by maintaining regular liaison with the treating service and undertaking care reviews.
- Act as Responsible Clinician for patients with intellectual disabilities living within West Norfolk and subject to conditional discharge or Supervised Community Treatment.
- Participate in multi-disciplinary, multi-agency, and partnership working for highly complex cases.
- Ensure patients are subject to best practice in the management of risk and outcome measurement.
- Participate in the consultant on-call rota.
- Undertake clinical duties associated with the care of patients, including outpatient clinics, home visits, and multidisciplinary case discussions.
- Manage, appraise, and give professional supervision to junior medical staff.
- Ensure junior medical staff operate within the parameters of the New Deal and are Working Time Directive compliant.
- Participate in service and business planning activity for the locality and the whole mental health service.
- Attend and participate in the academic program of the Trust and the team.
- Maintain professional registration with the General Medical Council and abide by professional codes of conduct.
- Participate annually in a job plan review with the clinical manager.
- MB BS or equivalent medical qualification.
- Qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research, or management.
- On the GMC specialist register in psychiatry.
