About the Seren Initiative

The Seren initiative is a collaborative effort involving the Welsh Government, educational institutions, and various organizations aimed at providing essential support to learners from state schools. Our mission is to ensure that all eligible students across Wales have equitable access to higher education, regardless of their socio-economic background or personal circumstances.

Key Responsibilities

As a Hub Coordinator, you will play a crucial role in the Seren initiative, serving as the primary liaison for students, educators, and families. Your duties will include:

  • Leading the execution of the Seren program within your designated area in South Wales.
  • Guiding students through a well-structured series of activities designed to enhance their understanding of higher education options.
  • Organizing in-person events, workshops, and seminars that inform students about various pathways to higher education.
  • Collaborating with schools, colleges, and universities to create additional opportunities, such as educational trips and competitions.
  • Working closely with the Welsh Government policy team and other partners to share best practices and maintain program consistency.
  • Providing ongoing mentorship and support to assist students in navigating their educational paths.
  • Advocating for students' academic potential to ensure their success in competitive degree programs.

Qualifications and Skills

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Experience in education, youth development, or a related field, particularly in higher education access.
  • Qualified Teacher Status.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to foster positive relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • A strong commitment to promoting educational equity and social mobility, along with exceptional organizational skills to manage multiple priorities effectively.
