About the Seren Initiative
The Seren program is a collaborative effort involving the Welsh Government, educational institutions, and community organizations. Its mission is to offer extensive support and guidance to learners from state schools, assisting them in gaining entry to prestigious higher education institutions. The program caters to students from Year 8 through Year 13, ensuring equitable access to opportunities for all eligible students across Wales, irrespective of their economic background or personal circumstances.
Your Responsibilities
As a Hub Coordinator, you will play a crucial role in the Seren initiative, serving as the primary contact for students, educators, and families. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Leading the execution of the Seren program within your designated area.
- Guiding students through a structured program of activities, both at the national and regional levels.
- Organizing in-person events, workshops, and seminars to enhance students' understanding of higher education pathways.
- Collaborating with schools, colleges, and universities to create additional opportunities, such as educational trips and competitions.
- Working alongside the Welsh Government policy team and other regional leaders to share best practices and maintain consistency across the initiative.
- Providing continuous support and mentorship to assist students in navigating their educational journeys.
- Advocating for students' academic aspirations and ensuring their success in competitive degree programs.
Qualifications and Skills
To thrive in this position, candidates should possess:
- Experience in education, youth development, or a related field, particularly in higher education access.
- Qualified Teacher Status.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to foster positive relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.
- A strong commitment to promoting educational equity and social mobility, along with exceptional organizational skills to manage multiple tasks effectively.
