Overview of the Role

We are seeking a dedicated Team Manager to oversee one of our Family Support and Safeguarding teams within North Somerset. This role is pivotal in ensuring that our services provide effective and targeted social work assessments and interventions aimed at fostering positive outcomes for children and young people.

As a Team Manager, you will be responsible for supervising approximately six social workers, maintaining manageable caseloads with an average of 18 children per worker, and striving towards our goal of 15 children per social worker. We prioritize professional development and offer excellent learning opportunities throughout your career, enabling you to deliver outstanding support with a focus on innovative solutions that keep families together.

We are looking for an experienced or aspiring team manager who is passionate about child welfare, confident in managing and enhancing team performance, and committed to collaborative Quality Assurance practices. Ideal candidates will exhibit leadership qualities that align with our practice approach, emphasizing the Signs of Safety methodology, which promotes strength-based social work practices and the core values that guide our work. We welcome applicants who are already trained in this approach as well as those who are eager to receive training.

The Team Manager will handle the daily operations of family support and safeguarding, which encompasses assessments and support for children in need, child protection, pre-proceedings, care proceedings, and adoption processes. The ideal candidate will possess social work qualifications, experience in supervising and leading teams, and a strong desire to contribute to service planning and improvement.

Our Family Support and Safeguarding Teams consist of six groups, and you will benefit from the support of a collaborative network of experienced managers dedicated to delivering high-quality safeguarding and support services across North Somerset.

Important Information

This position is exempt under the provisions of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions) Order 1975 and is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check.

A valid driving license and access to a suitable method of transportation are essential requirements for this role.

Candidate Profile

The successful candidate will be responsible for upholding the highest standards within the team, providing effective management and leadership to ensure that the services offered to children, young people, and their families are of exceptional quality.

Additionally, you will play a crucial role in supporting the development of Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE) candidates during their inaugural year in the profession.
