Legal & General Insurance is embarking on a transformative journey, modernizing its legacy applications and infrastructure through a multi-million pound strategic program. This initiative involves rewriting, refactoring, and migrating applications from on-premise data centers to the cloud.

As a key player in this transformation, you will contribute to the design, development, and maintenance of cutting-edge cloud-native applications. Your expertise will be instrumental in building robust CI/CD pipelines, ensuring seamless application build and deployment processes within Azure cloud environments.

Your Responsibilities:
  • Take ownership of the entire application lifecycle, from design and development to production support for new cloud-native applications.
  • Collaborate closely with IT architects and engineers to ensure seamless integration and operation within Azure cloud environments.
  • Work hand-in-hand with development teams, quality assurance, security, and design authority teams to establish secure development practices and maintain robust application pipelines.
  • Create comprehensive documentation for knowledge sharing and training purposes.
  • Act as a technical expert and problem solver, providing guidance and support on Java-related development and production issues.
  • Conduct proof-of-concept (POC) studies and feasibility analyses to evaluate emerging technologies and guide business decisions.
  • Work with the Production Service Manager to effectively manage and resolve production issues.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and advancements in cloud technologies, identifying opportunities for innovation within our cloud estate.
  • Foster a collaborative environment by effectively communicating with stakeholders across various teams.
Your Qualifications:

We are seeking a highly skilled Java Developer with a strong understanding of cloud-native development principles and experience working within Azure environments.

  • Proven experience developing e-commerce applications using Java/J2EE, with a focus on microservices architecture.
  • In-depth knowledge of the Spring framework (Spring Boot, MVC, Dependency Injection, Data Access).
  • Familiarity with JDBC, SQL, XML, Junit, LDAP, Active Directory, Eclipse, Subversion, and other relevant technologies.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
  • Strong understanding of cloud computing concepts, including infrastructure as code (IaC) and containerization.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
