About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Research Chemist to join our team at Concrete4Change. As a key member of our research and development team, you will play a critical role in advancing our cutting-edge technology for carbon capture and utilization in concrete.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement new technology areas that leverage existing capabilities and expertise, including CO2 carrier technologies.
  • Contribute to the development of intellectual property (IPR) for CO2 carrier technologies.
  • Collaborate with our team to develop and submit grant proposals to funding agencies, such as Innovate UK, European Innovation Council, UKRI, and Horizon Europe.
  • Plan, procure, and manage the chemical laboratory in line with regulations.
  • Evaluate carbon capture and utilization (CCU) techniques on the properties and long-term performance of cement-based materials.
  • Conduct cost-benefit analysis and life cycle assessment (LCA) of materials developed.
  • Manage the technical team, projects, and help expand the team.
Requirements
  • BSc and PhD in Chemistry (or relevant advanced research experience).
  • Understanding of carbonation mechanisms and critical assessment of CO2 uptake.
  • Extensive experience in Carbon Dioxide Utilisation.
  • In-depth knowledge of your specialist strand.
  • Demonstratable understanding of organic, inorganic, and physical chemistry.
Desirable Skills
  • Mineralisation of CO2 for various applications.
  • Experience with cement chemistry.
