Job Opportunity

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Senior Research Chemist to join our team at Concrete4Change as a core member. This is a permanent position available for immediate start.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to work on a ground-breaking technology that utilizes and permanently mineralizes CO2 in concrete. As a Senior Research Chemist, you will be part of the core management team and will directly contribute to the company's growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and lead R&D projects on CO2 capture, recycling, and reduction technologies.
  • Design and synthesize functional materials for CO2 utilization.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver projects on time and within budget.
  • Build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Develop and implement laboratory setup and HSE requirements.
  • Conduct problem-solving and troubleshooting, identifying issues and proposing innovative solutions.
  • Develop and characterize complex systems of organic and inorganic materials.
  • Lead multidisciplinary R&D teams, including hiring, coaching, and performance management.

Requirements

  • PhD in Chemistry.
  • Experience working with CO2 capture, recycling, and reduction technologies.
  • Experience in the synthesis and modification of functional materials.
  • Excellent project management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional environment.
  • Understanding of laboratory setup and HSE requirements.
  • Significant experience problem-solving and troubleshooting.
  • Experience and deep understanding of characterisation methodology development of complex systems of organic and inorganic materials.
  • R&D experience in fields of adsorption, adsorbent design, separation technologies, catalyst, materials surface functionalisation, carbon capture, surface chemistry or polymer.
  • Must have experience working in the UK or Europe.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience in developing proposal/bid writing.
  • Experience in computational chemistry, analysis and simulation of synthetic materials.
  • Experience in carbon capture utilisation and storage.
  • Experience in patent writing and grant proposal development.
  • Experience in the mineralisation of CO2 for various applications.
  • Understanding concrete and cement chemistry.
  • Fluent in English and ideally one other European language.
