Job Title: Food Development Technologist

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Food Development Technologist to join our Development Team in Newcastle. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing new food products and ingredients, as well as improving existing ones.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and execute research programs to improve existing products and ingredients, and to study the potential of new products and ingredients.
  • Reformulate existing products to enhance performance and quality.
  • Help develop and review business approaches to the Ultra Processed Food (UPF) agenda.
  • Transfer innovative technologies into our process, development, and site teams.
  • Work with suppliers and industry experts to enhance products and ingredients.
  • Build key relationships within our Greggs network.
  • Liaise and build relationships with key suppliers, universities, and other industry experts/research bodies.
  • Report, analyze, and present findings in a well-documented and scientific manner.
Requirements:
  • Relevant food degree and a minimum of 5 years' experience in the food industry.
  • R&D experience/scientific background.
  • Curiosity, experimentation, and hands-on product development and process experience.
  • Practical bakery development experience.
  • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft 365, Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.
