About the Company:

Our client is a dedicated firm specializing in bridge maintenance services throughout the UK, collaborating with National Highways, Transport Scotland, major contractors, and local councils on various road networks. They focus on the repair and maintenance of bridges and other highway structures, including the installation of bridge expansion joints, waterproofing, bearings, and concrete restoration.

As part of a larger group of infrastructure service providers, they have a well-established presence with around 300 employees nationwide. This position reports directly to the Commercial Manager.

Position Description:

We are seeking a customer-focused and committed Cost Estimator to join our team.

The Estimator's role is crucial in supporting the commercial department and will play a significant part in helping the company secure new projects.

If you have experience in a similar capacity within the Highways or Civil Engineering sectors, or if your estimating background encompasses complete structures in another construction field, we would be interested in hearing from you.

This position is ideal for a diligent, logically minded, and motivated individual. It presents an excellent opportunity to enhance your career prospects while becoming part of a dynamic team.

Main Responsibilities:

Estimating for bridge joints, waterproofing, and bearings, with a preference for candidates who possess some knowledge of architectural metalwork, secondary steelwork, and structural steel.

  • Interpreting civil engineering design drawings
  • Conducting material take-offs and preparing tender summaries
  • Acquiring supplier quotes and engaging in negotiations
  • Preparing quotations within specified deadlines
  • Drafting comprehensive quotations
  • Communicating with clients regarding tender submissions
  • Quantifying material take-offs and generating cost analyses for clients and management
  • Providing monthly job costing forecasts and analyses
  • Participating in client meetings and occasional site visits
  • Assisting with monthly applications and final accounts
  • Collaborating with other departments

Candidate Profile:

  • Exceptional communication abilities

  • A logical approach to resolving inquiries
  • Outstanding organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently, demonstrating initiative and drive
