The Field Army is seeking a Business Change Manager (BCM) to join its Capability Branch, playing a crucial role in a significant modernization initiative valued at £45 billion. This position offers a unique opportunity to make a substantial impact within Defence.

This role is structured for 37 hours per week.

Role Responsibilities

The organization is undertaking its most extensive capability modernization effort, and the Capability Branch of the Field Army is tasked with ensuring operational readiness while transitioning to new capabilities. The Business Change Management Team is established within this branch to spearhead the delivery of change program outcomes and benefits in collaboration with various program teams across Defence.

The selected candidate will be accountable for:

  • Developing and executing transition plans to facilitate the seamless integration of selected programs into Business As Usual (BAU).
  • Preparing Field Army units for the implications of the changes being implemented.
  • Ensuring that the benefits of change initiatives are effectively realized by Field Army units.
  • Maintaining effective cohesion throughout the program lifecycle across all Defence Lines of Development.
  • Conducting thorough risk and issue management with a focus on program outcomes and benefit realization.
  • Creating realistic program schedules that account for user impact within the Field Army.
  • Integrating Field Army acceptance criteria into the program planning process.
  • Producing all necessary transition planning documents, transition orders, and synchronization orders accurately and promptly.
  • Communicating business changes to the user community in a timely manner and coordinating user preparation and acceptance activities.
  • Representing the Field Army at Capability User Boards (CUBs), Program Boards, and Capability Integration Working Groups (CIWGs).

Candidate Profile

We are looking for individuals with a proven track record in managing major change programs and projects, capable of effectively communicating with stakeholders at various organizational levels, including senior leadership. The ideal candidate will possess the ability to identify, manage, and mitigate risks associated with change programs.

This role requires a candidate who can collaborate with diverse partners to plan the transition of program deliverables into service, ensuring that benefits are realized, proactively addressing challenges, and embedding sophisticated program outcomes into Business as Usual.

Essential Qualifications

The successful candidate will have experience in managing Major Change Programs or projects.

Desirable Qualifications

The ideal candidate will hold a recognized P3M qualification, such as:

  • Project Management Qualification (PMQ) from the Association for Project Management (APM)
  • Practitioner Qualification in Managing Successful Programmes (MSP)
  • Practitioner Qualification in PRINCE2
  • Practitioner Qualification in Change Management
  • Practitioner Qualification in Management of Risk (MoR)

Alternatively, the candidate should be willing to pursue a recognized P3M qualification within the first year of employment, contingent upon successful completion of the probationary period.
