Senior Child Welfare Specialist

Coventry, Coventry, United Kingdom Coventry City Council Full time

Role Overview:

Are you an experienced and dedicated Social Worker / Senior Social Worker / Advanced Practitioner with a passion for positively influencing the lives of children, young people, and families? We are seeking Advanced Social Workers (Advanced Practitioners) who are committed to delivering exceptional support to our Children, Young People, and Families.

In the capacity of an Advanced Social Worker, you will manage a caseload of the most intricate cases within children's services. Your role will be instrumental in providing guidance, mentoring, and support to both Newly Qualified Social Workers (NQSWs) and seasoned Social Workers. Your expertise will be vital in navigating and offering professional insight in high-complexity situations.

This position is exempt under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act, and as such, your appointment will be contingent upon a satisfactory police records check via the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

Candidate Profile:

The children, families, and young people we serve come from diverse backgrounds. To provide the highest quality of care, it is essential that our workforce is culturally competent, representative, and understands their unique experiences and perspectives.

Our workforce data indicates that men and individuals from minority ethnic backgrounds are under-represented at the Advanced Social Worker level, and we encourage applicants from these backgrounds to apply. This does not exclude individuals with or without other protected characteristics as outlined in the Equality Act.

You should be passionate about practice, eager to share knowledge, and committed to developing others. A solid understanding of and advocacy for the principles of diversity and inclusion in workplace culture and service delivery is essential.

You will hold a recognized professional Social Work qualification (MA/BA/BSc in Social Work, Diploma in Social Work, or CQSW) and be registered with Social Work England. Experience in working with children and families in a statutory social care environment, along with demonstrable experience in decision-making on casework from Children in Need to Permanency Planning, including Court Work, is required.

Additional Information:

For further details about the role, please refer to our application process documentation. We are committed to inclusion and offer guaranteed interviews for specific groups of individuals who meet the minimum requirements for the role.
