Key Responsibilities:

Main Duties

The Lead Consultant in Psychotherapy position is a newly established role focused on enhancing the existing Psychotherapy services across CNWL Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS). We seek a committed and proactive Psychotherapist who is eager to lead the development of therapeutic pathways within a specialized service catering to children, young people, and their families across multiple boroughs. The successful candidate will supervise Therapy Leads and ensure high standards of clinical governance, quality, and appropriateness of the work conducted by psychotherapists in CAMHS, including oversight of training and supervision.

Additionally, the Lead Psychotherapist for CAMHS will contribute expert knowledge and consult on complex cases, playing a vital role in the professional growth of colleagues. Opportunities will arise to lead trust-wide initiatives and engage in various specialties, driving service evaluation, time-limited projects, and audits as directed by the Head of Therapies.

Qualifications Required:

  • Registered Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist with the ACP.

Job Responsibilities Include:

  1. Collaborating with Consultant Leads and Team Managers of CAMHS services to plan and deliver integrated services tailored to the needs of service users.
  2. Ensuring that CAMHS provides accessible and acceptable services to diverse local communities.
  3. Proactively addressing discrimination and fostering the development of culturally competent services.
  4. Supporting adherence to child and adolescent psychotherapy models by assisting managers and CAPT Leads in effective recruitment.
  5. Participating in the recruitment process for Lead Child and Adolescent Psychotherapists across boroughs, including shortlisting and interviewing.
  6. Providing leadership to enhance staff engagement with CNWL CAMHS service objectives.
  7. Contributing to quality improvement initiatives and encouraging CAPT Leads to engage in QI projects.
  8. Overseeing governance of CAPT training placements to ensure equitable access to HEE funded clinical training placements across boroughs.
Essential Experience:
  • Extensive experience as a qualified clinical Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist.
  • Professional management experience of qualified clinical Child and Adolescent Psychotherapists.
  • Experience in multi-professional service development and specialist psychotherapeutic assessment and treatment.
  • Ability to work with a diverse range of children and adolescents and their families.
  • Experience in teaching, training, and clinical supervision of Child and Adolescent Psychotherapists.
Knowledge Requirements:
  • In-depth knowledge of current models and methods of Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy.
  • Familiarity with legislation related to children and adolescents, including protection procedures.
  • Strong communication skills to convey complex information effectively.
  • Leadership and management capabilities.
