Position Overview

An exceptional opportunity has emerged for a Lead Nurse on Ward 6 at Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. We are seeking a dedicated Band 6 Lead Nurse to enhance our team. Ward 6 is a pioneering 19-bedded Acute Elderly Admissions Ward, committed to innovative patient care.

We are in search of candidates with substantial experience who are devoted to delivering safe, high-quality care to our patients. As a role model, you will also support and mentor our junior staff. The emphasis on multidisciplinary collaboration on Ward 6 ensures timely and safe patient discharges or transfers to suitable care environments.

As part of a dynamic nursing team, you will provide comprehensive care to patients while demonstrating excellent communication skills. You will also coordinate ward activities and support the Ward Manager. Successful candidates will acquire extensive clinical and managerial experience. While prior experience in a similar environment is advantageous, it is not mandatory. The positions will involve rotational shifts, covering both day and night duties throughout the week.

The ideal candidate will exemplify compassionate and inclusive leadership, fostering a culture of collective leadership within the Trust.

Main Responsibilities

  • Assist in the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care as a key member of the multidisciplinary team under the guidance of the Ward Manager.
  • Oversee the organization and coordination of nursing services in the ward during the absence of the Ward Manager.
  • Uphold accountability as outlined in the NMC Code of Professional Conduct.
  • Ensure adherence to high clinical standards and nursing care quality.
  • Demonstrate compassionate and inclusive leadership to cultivate a collaborative leadership culture within the Trust, engaging and empowering team members, promoting ownership of learning and quality improvement, and facilitating teamwork across departments.

  • D32/33 or equivalent
  • Specialty Qualification
  • Evidence of qualifications to supervise, teach, and assess students (completion expected within 18 months).
