Job Title: Accounts Payable Supervisor

Reporting to the Director – Financing Reporting, the Accounts Payable Supervisor is responsible for planning, organizing, and managing the day-to-day operations and activities of a centralized Accounts Payable department. The incumbent assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining high standards of service in the management of fiscal, human, and material resources for the department.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement effective processes and procedures to ensure accurate and timely payment of invoices and other financial obligations.
  • Manage and supervise a team of Accounts Payable staff, providing guidance, training, and coaching to ensure high levels of performance and productivity.
  • Collaborate with other departments, such as Procurement and Finance, to ensure seamless financial operations and compliance with organizational policies and procedures.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with vendors, suppliers, and other external stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate payment of invoices and other financial obligations.
  • Monitor and analyze financial data to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement, and develop recommendations to optimize financial operations.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements, including financial reporting and auditing.
Requirements:
  • Degree/Diploma in Business Administration from an accredited business program, majoring in Accounting.
  • Knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, Word, Excel, Outlook, with particular competency in the creation and modification of Excel spreadsheets.
  • Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains software an asset.
  • Two (2) years recent relevant and supervisory experience.
  • Previous Accounts Payable experience an asset.
  • Previous project work experiences an asset.
  • Demonstrated strong communication skills both in oral and written format.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, coordinate, and direct activities.
  • Demonstrated effective time management and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain professional working relationships.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with multiple priorities and competing deadlines, with frequent interruptions.
  • Demonstrated ability and willingness to promote positive change.
  • Demonstrated ability to respect confidentiality, including paper, electronic formats, and other mediums.
  • Given the cultural diversity of our region, the ability to respect and promote a culturally diverse population is required.
  • Proficiency in both official languages is essential for target and designated bilingual positions.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet the physical and mental demands of the job.
  • Demonstrated ability to respect confidentiality, including paper, electronic formats, and other mediums.
  • Good work and attendance record.
Conditions of Employment:
  • Requires a valid Class 5 driver's license, an all-purpose insured vehicle, and liability insurance of at least $1,000,000.00.
