Reporting to the Director – Financing Reporting, the Accounts Payable Supervisor is responsible for planning, organizing, and managing the day-to-day operations and activities of a centralized Accounts Payable department. The incumbent assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining high standards of service in the management of fiscal, human, and material resources for the department.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop and implement effective strategies to improve the efficiency and productivity of the Accounts Payable department.
- Manage and supervise a team of staff to ensure the timely and accurate processing of accounts payable transactions.
- Establish and maintain relationships with vendors, suppliers, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth operations.
- Monitor and analyze financial data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Degree/Diploma in Business Administration from an accredited business program, majoring in Accounting.
- Knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, Word, Excel, Outlook, with particular competency in the creation and modification of Excel spreadsheets.
- Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains software an asset.
- Two (2) years recent relevant and supervisory experience.
- Previous Accounts Payable experience an asset.
- Previous project work experiences an asset.
- Demonstrated strong communication skills both in oral and written format.
- Demonstrated ability to plan, coordinate, and direct activities.
- Demonstrated effective time management and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain professional working relationships.
- Demonstrated ability to work with multiple priorities and competing deadlines, with frequent interruptions.
- Demonstrated ability and willingness to promote positive change.
- Demonstrated ability to respect confidentiality including paper, electronic formats, and other mediums.
- Given the cultural diversity of our region, the ability to respect and promote a culturally diverse population is required.
- Proficiency of both official languages is essential for target and designated bilingual positions.
- Demonstrated ability to meet the physical and mental demands of the job.
- Demonstrated ability to respect confidentiality including paper, electronic formats, and other mediums.
- Good work and attendance record.
- Requires a valid Class 5 driver's license, an all-purpose insured vehicle, and liability insurance of at least $1,000,000.00.
