Your expertise will be instrumental in transforming raw data into valuable insights that drive scientific discovery.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and construct robust bioinformatic pipelines to process and analyze genomics, transcriptomics, and proteomics data.
- Develop innovative algorithms for biological data analysis, pushing the boundaries of scientific understanding.
- Collaborate closely with bioinformaticians and researchers to understand project requirements and translate them into effective technical solutions.
- Identify areas for improvement within existing systems and propose innovative solutions to enhance performance, scalability, and accuracy.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of custom software applications, databases, and production-quality modules for our core data management system.
- Stay at the forefront of advancements in bioinformatics and data science, integrating new methodologies into our workflows.
- Work seamlessly with cross-functional teams to integrate bioinformatic solutions into broader research projects and workflows.
- Document code, algorithms, and workflows meticulously, providing comprehensive training materials and support guides as needed.
- Implement the integration of commercial software tools and platforms where appropriate, leveraging industry best practices.
Qualifications
- A deep understanding of Python programming is essential.
- Strong experience with SQL and database management systems (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle) is required.
- Practical experience developing data processing pipelines is crucial for success in this role.
- Familiarity with Linux/Unix environments is a must.
- Experience with cloud infrastructure is highly desirable.
- Proven skills in API design and usage are essential.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities are key to thriving in this team-oriented environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and meticulous attention to detail are essential for success.
Desirable Skills
- Experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role is highly advantageous.
- Skills in R programming would be beneficial.
- Knowledge of pipeline development with domain-specific languages, such as Nextflow and Snakemake, is a plus.
- Familiarity with bioinformatics tools and methodologies is an asset.
- Exposure to the analysis of large biological omics-based datasets is valuable.
- Professional experience in developing web-based applications is desirable.
- Experience with autoscaling cloud tools or HPC is a plus.
- Previous work as part of bioinformatics and/or software development teams is beneficial.
- Excellent version control habits are essential.
- Adeptness at writing comprehensive unit tests is highly valued.
- Familiarity with Agile methodology is advantageous.
- An interest in cancer, immunology, molecular biology, or genetics is a plus.

Education
